Concannon Vineyard in Livermore |
|
The Concannon family is considered a founding family of California wine. James Concannon planted his first vineyards and built the winery in 1883, and four generations later, the family is still producing award-winning wines. The winery is proud of it’s many “firsts”: the first successful winery founded by an Irish immigrant, the first winery to make Bourdeaux style wines in California, the first to hire a professional female winemaker in 1950, and the first in America to produce a Petite Sirah. The winery recently completed a 10-year, $30 million revitalization project. It is available for special event rentals.
Wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel.
Tasting Room: Open daily 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Guests are welcome to stroll on the estate grounds and picnic on the lawn. Groups of eight or more are encouraged to make a reservation. Tours are available by reservation only for $20 per person. The Underdog Wine Bar offers small plates and pairings; reservations are strongly suggested. |
